Salman Khan sent 5 years in jail, to Jodhpur Central Jail

The local court today sentenced Bollywood actor Salman Khan to five years imprisonment in the case of murder of two black deer while other accused actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were acquitted. The court has sentenced Salman to five years in jail and fined Rs 10,000. He said that along with other cine artists, another accused, local resident, Dushyant Singh, has also been acquitted by the court.

Police officials said that Salman Khan was taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail in the police vehicle from the court premises. Since Salman has been convicted for more than three years, therefore he will have to apply for bail in the High Court. Salman has been taken to Jodhpur Central Jail for the fourth time. Prior to this, he has been living in Jodhpur Central Jail for three times from years in 1998, 2006 and 2007 for a total of 18 days.

The court found Salman Khan guilty of hunting black deer in Kankani village during the shoot of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain‘ in 1998. Salman Khan was convicted by the court under the provisions of Wildlife (Protection) Act 9/51. Under this law, the convict can be sentenced to maximum six years imprisonment.

It is worth noting that the Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri had completed the trial on March 28 in connection with the incident in 1998. Salman was charged that he had hunted two black deers in the frame of Bhagoda in Kankani village near Jodhpur. This incident happened in October, 1998, during the film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain‘.

Salman, wearing a black shirt, reached court with his bodyguard this morning. Along with Salman, both of her sisters Alvira and Arpita also reached. During the verdict, other accused cine stars were also present in the court room.

What is the case?
In September 1998, Salman Khan was shooting in Sooraj Barjatya’s film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain‘ in Jodhpur. In the meantime, he went hunting with his co-star Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam. It is alleged that they hunted the protected black deer there. The date of the victim was September 27, 28 September, 01 October and 02 October. On behalf of fellow actors, Salman is accused of inciting for hunting.

Salman Khan was arrested for the first time on October 12, 1998 in this case. A day later, on Oct 13, the investigating officers in Jodhpur’s forest department’s office recorded statements of Salman and witnesses. The whole sequence of recording statements was recorded in the camera. Salman was released from Jodhpur Central Jail on October 17 after being in jail for five days. Salman’s room was also searched in which the police had recovered pistol and rifle. The license period of these weapons was over. Such a case has also been filed in the fourth case under the Arms Act.
