Devi Chandraghanta, also known as Chandrakhanda or Chandrika is the goddess who fights against demons. She is otherwise very kind and serene mother showering peace and prosperity, but when provoked she can be malevolent. Her malevolent form is known as Chandi or Chamunda. She rides on tiger or lion which represents bravery and courage. Her complexion is golden and she wears a half-moon like bell on forehead and has a third eye in the middle of her forehead, she is a great example of beauty, charm and grace. Chandraghanta is the ‘shakti’ of lord Shiva. Each aspect of Shiva is accompanied by Shakti and therefore he is Ardhnarishvara.
