JMM Legislator Amit Mahto sentenced 2 years jail and fined 10 thousand rupees 

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator Amit Mahto has been sentenced two years jail and fine of Rs 10,000 in the 12-year-old case of assault with the officer-level officer. Agencies Divakar Pandey convicted on Friday in connection with the assault with the then Zone Officer (CO) Alok Kumar of Sonahatu. Shortly after, the MLA got bail from the court.

Amit Mahto was accused of putting an illegal weapon and armed with weapons and causing a deadly attack on CO and obstructing government work. At Sonahatu police station, then CO Alok Kumar filed the case on June 28, 2006. An FIR was lodged against the accused under section 147, 148, 149, 341, 323, 307, 506, 353, 379 and 427 of the IPC.

In the complaint filed by Alok Kumar, he had said that on June 28, 2006, at around three o’clock in the afternoon, he reached the Regional Office, Sonahatu along with a team of Industrial Survey from the office of the sub-divisional officer, Bundu, for the execution of government work. Already there Amit Mahto was present with his 35 supporters. All these people were equipped with sticks, sticks, fronts, arrows and bow.

In the complaint of the CO, it was said that Amit Mahto and his supporters tried to suppress the ropes in his neck and press them down. Amit Mahto and his supporters also damaged their vehicle due to the attack.
