After complete ban on polythene, Ranchi municipal corporation has launched a campaign of ‘Polythene-free Ranchi‘. The impact of this campaign has also started to appear. Large shopping malls and restaurants have already left the use of polythene for fear of action. Here, small shopkeepers have also started looking for alternative polythene. In this order, the meat shops in Lalpur Vegetable Market’s Mango shops, Karmatoli Chowk, Meat Shops of Bahubazar, Fish Market of Madhukam Khadgadha and Harmu Bazaar’s cock shops are being offered to customers in the foam carry bags. Those who are taking carry bags of foam from shopkeepers, two rupees are being charged with additional charge. On the order of city commissioner Shantanu Kumar Agarhari, Ranchi municipal corporation is preparing to distribute more than 10 thousand carry bags in different parts of the city.
