In Jharkhand, 38% of the people get married in childhood. This figure has been released by the Health Department. To prevent child marriage, Principal Secretary of the Department Nidhi Khare has instructed to take stringent steps.

In this case, 104 helpline numbers have been issued. This number will be taken immediately after giving secret information about child marriage. It is important that child marriage is a misdemeanor, whose prevention is necessary.

There are many adverse consequences, such as due to child marriage, due to being a mother at a young age, growth in maternal mortality rate, growth of infant mortality, poor health of the teenager, anemia and malnutrition. While child marriage is a punishable offense. The rate of child marriage in Jharkhand is 38 percent, which is quite alarming and is more than 26.8 percent of the entire India.

The Principal Secretary has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of all the districts for the prevention of child marriage that he should strictly monitor the occurrence of marriage at the young age in the meeting of the Gram Panchayat of his district at the sub-division / zonal level.

The Department has been linking the pre-notification of child marriage with the helpline of 104. And in the future, it will be brought in the form of ‘informative scheme‘. In this regard, information has been received from three districts Ranchi, Palamu and East Singhbhum.

Said that where a child marriage is reported, the Civil Surgeon of that district has been instructed to make sure that the consultant should get family planning consultation with the said couple so that the teen cannot become a mother before the age of 20 and her health Stay safe.
